Encarsia formosa is a tiny parasitic wasp that is the most cost-effective biological control for the greenhouse whitefly. It is an efficient biological control of whitefly and one of the most cost-effective ways to control greenhouse and indoor infestations of the pest. It parasitizes many species of whiteflies, but the two that cause the greatest economic damage in greenhouse cultivation are Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci. Best known for their ability to control greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) along with Tobacco whitefly (Bemesia tabaci).

Application Rate Recommendations for Encarsia formosa:

• Preventative: 1-2 per plant when pests are first noticed.
• Moderate Infestation: 2-4 per square foot.
• Heavy Infestation: 4-8 per square foot.

How-To Use Encarsia formosa For Best Results:

• Release Encarsia formosa as soon as possible after receipt.
• Do not expose Encarsia formosa to temperatures below 50°F or above 90°F.
  
• Do not release Encarsia formosa if pesticides have been used within the last two weeks.
  
• Release Encarsia formosa in the early morning or late afternoon.
  
• Release Encarsia formosa at the base of plants or on leaves near whitefly hot spots.
  
• Repeat releases every two weeks until control is achieved
• Can be stored for a maximum of 2 days at 42-50 °F (6-10 °C).
